Abstract

This paper intends to explore some of the dimentions related to the living conditions of unaccompanied migrant children, focusing particularly on their aspirations. The research target is not to verify existing theories, but realize facility regarding MSNA context, which can be served as reference of goods pratices and result in action lines for the educator operating in such field. But to highlight good practices for unaccompanied migrant minors, which migh impact the training and attitudes of professionals in the field. The paper also aims at presenting the first emerging nodes and categories that I have elaborated in order to carry out the qualitative doctoral research study.Located within the interpretive paradigm, the study adopts a Constructivist grounded theory (GT) methodology (Charmaz, 2014). It is guided, but not commanded, by sensitizing concepts (Blumer, 1969) such as Sayad’s “double absence”(Sayad, 2002), Appadurai's “aspiration”, Morin’s ideas of world companies. The main objective of the study is to critically analyse the current intercultural language used to refer to unaccompanied migrant minors within the Italian context, inspired by the idea of decolonizing the language and the collective imaginary expressed by literature of post colonial studies.
