Abstract

The article focuses on a significant cultural shift occurring in education: from integration to inclusion in both national and international contexts. Such a shift is analyzed in the light of the special educational need construct and its repercussions in teaching and teacher training in order to promote learning for all through an inclusive individualized and personalized education. Accordingly the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, has launched a series of training courses for teachers of Italian schools of all levels to better spread the culture of inclusion and to share best practices to respond to Special Educational Needs (BES).
