A tavola con l'altro e con l'altrove

Abstract

Through the analysis of some literary sequences that we use as a symbolic space of experience, exploiting the normal processes of empathy triggered from reading, we get to pick and to determine some of the deeper meanings of food, that make the culture of nutrition one of the most promising and transversal themes, and perhaps the most meaningful, with regard to the complete formation of a person. Sharing, brotherhood, hospitality are meanings that go beyond the words to get through the medium of food directly to corporeality of individuals, rooted in it even more firmly than do ideologies, even the most pervasive, even the most underhand. The food then takes an ethical dimension that is perhaps not so far been considered with due attention and that could help manage migration emergencies, in a perspective of real conviviality, understood as commonality of life.
